PICK-POCKETER’S BASHFULNESS FROM PROPHET MUHAMMAD PBUH (ABSTRACT FROM WEEKLY TALK ON PEACE & SPIRITUALITY)
A female visited me once. She told me that she spent 2.2 million rupees on her daughter’s dowry. She gifted a 3-piece suit to groom’s father, shoes, watch although he has expired. I inquired the reason. She said that it’s our tradition. It is our custom; it is our problem – it is necessary. She added that still the in-laws are upset as to why dint we give suits to etc etc. I have no clue who they will dress up or will they offer it on their father’s grave? She added: ‘I gifted gold bangles worth 57,000 to the groom’s mother. The groom has 9 siblings. I gifted gold tops to the sisters and gold chains to the brothers as this tradition has been running in our family. Now a month has not passed and her divorce issue has come up. The groom’s family is saying that we will give divorce. Now you advice me what should I do?’

THE MENACE OF QUITTING NABWI PBUH’S CUSTOM: I said that how can marriages succeed when you have quitted Prophet Muhammad PBUH’s following? How can peace and harmony exist in homes? This is absurd. How can one look for happiness after quitting Prophet Muhammad PBUH’s association? It can never happen; it is impossible!

OUR ASSOCIATION IS THE HIGHEST: We are associated with Prophet Muhammad PBUH. It will be announced on the Day of Judgment that where are the followers of Prophet Muhammad PBUH? It is due to this association that we will be honored; we will be respected. Why? Prophet Muhammad PBUH is the one due to which Allah told Hazrat Adam AS that I accepted your tauba and accepted it due to Prophet Muhammad PBUH.
Prophet Muhammad PBUH was created at the time when even the mold was not created for Hazrat Adam AS and at that time, Prophethood was already given to Prophet Muhammad PBUH. O Allah’s men! We are associated with such great Prophet PBUH; keep this always in your mind and ask yourself before taking any step that who am I? Your inner-self should reply that I am Muhammadi PBUH.
YOUNG THEIF’S REALIZATION OF MUHAMMADI ASSOCIATION: Ahsaan Danish has written that a man took me once to meet a pious human and I went with him. We reached Delhi’s Shahi Mosque and in the centre of the stairs sat an old handicapped man. My companion told me that the old man is the head of the pick-pocketers and is their chief; visit in the evening and witness… In the evening, all the children returned.  Some said, that chief; this is our day’s effort. They then kept all the money and goods in front of their head. One boy said, ‘Boss, my today’s income is 2 Rs’. The chief abused him and inquired him the reason for only 2 Rs. He said that I pick-pursed a foreigner who was carrying a big amount but then I thought that he is the follower of Hazrat Issa AS and I am the follower of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. If on the Day of Judgment, he mentions it & Hazrat Issa will claim that Prophet Muhammad PBUH, your follower pick-pocketed then how will I face Prophet Muhammad PBUH.’ The chief cheered him. Appreciated him and gave him 10 Rs as gift.
The chief did not take this money ever; he distributed it and instructed them to pray. He always told them to do good deeds and also to continue practicing this profession. Once in a week his student would carry him and take him for his job. He worked one day and managed his finances for the week. He was such a professional that even in old age, he would cut pockets. He was old. My companion then told me that once he saw how he trained his students. He used to make them wear watches with chimes tied on them. He then asked them to walk on a curvy track in such a manner that no sound should come; move in such a way that nobody in the crowd would get to know. The student who would produce any sound was beaten as to why did the sound came? This was practiced for the perfection of walking, and the perfection of pick-pocketing.
REASON FOR THE STORY: When a pick-pocketer and his teenage student who is taught and instructed that he has to follow it, has a feeling in his heart that I have to be sincere with the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Although he is doing a wrong deed; he pick-pocketed one pocket; then left and pick-pocketed another and said that I got only 2 Rs and that I have brought to you, chief. The other pocket had a big amount; more money. But I said, No! Then Hazrat Issa AS will claim on the Day of Judgment. O people! Pick-pursing is a bad deed. It is Haraam but even then he has Prophet Muhammad’s affection, respect, esteem, and sincerity towards the Prophet. Tell me that what do we do? Every one of you should peek in their heart and see. Life was passing normally but now everything has changed. Earlier, I used to think about life as very long and eternal but since I have started attending your dars, life seem very short. Now every moment I am concerned that no time should be spent in the absence of Allah’s remembrance. I am noticing a change in my relatives and acquaintances, too. They have also started practicing good deeds by the grace of Allah. The most important thing is that after attending your dars, I acquired love for humanity, love towards the creation and then acquired love for the creator of all; ALLAH
